Millenium Mob
The Millennium Mob is a group of 16 Year 5 and 6 Students who work together
to create a current events show called 'Inside SRP' which is shared at our
whole school Celebration Asssemblies.
|
The aim of the show is to;
- celebrate things happening within our school community
- share work that is going on in classrooms
- reinforce different aspects of the 'Kid on the Ridge' with the school
and our local community.
There are four different roles for students in the Millennium Mob. |
 |
Director
The Directors job involves managing people, organising content for the show and directing people on camera. They need to watch all the cameras and make sure they are prepared for upcoming shots. The Director will also be required to do some extra study to learn about the technical aspects of shooting a scene.
Anchor Person
The Anchor Persons role in the team involves writing scripts and presenting
in front of the camera. They are also responsible for interviewing guests in the studio, and keeping the audience entertained.
Editor
The Editors work alongside the camera operator to download footage. They use iMovie to edit and put together different segments of the show. They also add sound and music to the show.
Kid Cam Operator
The Kid Cam Operators job involves shooting scenes in the studio and at various locations, keeping track of footage that has been shot, and looking after video equipment. They work closely with the Director and the Editors.
At the beginning of each year Year 5 and 6 students are given the
opportunity to apply for the position of their choice within the Millennium
Mob. They do this by submitting an application to the Millennium Mob
Producer (The Teacher responsible for the Millennium Mob). Applications are received in many different formats as students are encouraged to be as creative as they wish. Once all applications have been received the Producer in consultation with the ATeam Teachers selects 16 students for the Millennium Mob.
The Millennium Mob meet once a week for a block during which, the Producer is released from the classroom. During this time there are training sessions for each role in the Millennium Mob, the Millennium Mob are out and about filming or we are working on pulling everything together in the studio. The Millennium Mob crew are also expected to put some of their own time aside to work on the show.
Each Monday morning the Directors head around the school to find out what is happening for the week. A timetable is then put together for the crew and the rest of the staff. The Millennium Mob are then responsible for excusing themselves from their classrooms to do whatever filming has been timetabled for the week.
Once all filming has been completed the editors then work with the Directors to put the show together using i-Movie. The show is then viewed by the Millennium Mob before it goes to air. This gives the Millennium Mob a chance to reflect on the process they have been through to put the show together and look at the final show and things that worked well as well as
things that might need to be improved with the next show. Having reflected
on the show it is then shared at one of our Celebration Assemblies.
Being a part of the Millennium Mob enables students to further develop many
of the Kid on the Ridge Qualities. |
