Principal's Welcome

I love leading learning at Selwyn Ridge School. It is a very special place with a caring, nurturing and friendly environment where high expectations for learning and behaviour are reflected in motivated and engaged learners.

I am proud to be part of a talented team of teachers and support staff who are committed to creating the optimum learning environment for our children. Everything we do is guided by a firmly established system of values and beliefs, against which we are constantly monitoring the alignment of our practice.

"How will it make a positive difference for our children?" is the constant catch cry in our decision making process.

Our children, the learners of the 21st century, are encouraged to cultivate the attributes, skills and dispositions of "The Kid on the Ridge," a learner model developed through an extensive consultation process.

We also encourage our children to take a strong role in leading their own learning. Our KIC (Kids in Charge) learning model, proven effective by independent research, provides a powerful springboard from which to launch exploration and inquiry.
